“ When you taught us about trees it really stuck because I identified a tree for a friend and told him how he could identify them too. You make teaching exciting and next time we go to Rosario, for any reason, I will definitely want to go.”

  Caving Summit Camp '09

The Puget Sound region provides ample opportunities for adventure. When adventure is combined with learning in the natural world students gain self-confidence and knowledge of their world and the importance of interdependent webs of life. In a world where technology dominates, and our lives are over stimulated, Academic Adventures combines the adventure of trying new things from a slower paced life with learning about the habitats we move through.

This summer we are teaming up with Sunset Lake Camp to provide this indepth experience.  Last year we explored Lava Tubes in Southern Washinton.  This year we're moving to Limestone!   Dates are July  19- July 24  (click to register)

Campers during this week of caving will be exploring some of the longest and best limestone caves in Washington State.  Dick Garnick, a lifelong caver, is our local expert and has discovered, mapped, and dug out caves all across Washington and British Columbia.    During this week campers will be able to work towards the caving honor as they explore the various caves. Several caves will require hiking to get to.  Campers should be prepared to rapell, and ascend ropes.   A cave survey and mapping will be done as we learn more about cave formation and life.  We may even do some exploration!  We'll be exploring the unique flora and fauna that inhabit caves and their entrances and through our experiences and group time draw closer in our walk with God.

*Rapelling

*Ascending (ascenders, cable ladder)

*Mud
